Purpose

To assesses the degree to which a participant discloses intimate details to his or her partner.

Type of Measure

Modified. The measured used in this study contains 21 selected items from the original questionnaire. Further, while this version elicits information about disclosure to one’s romantic partner, the original questionnaire asks generally about disclosure to others.

Description

Items comprised statements that described self-disclosure of details concerning topics such as career, emotions, tastes, personal values, and sexuality.  Participants rated how often in their relationship they have discussed each item with their partner on a 4-point Likert scale.
