NFL Draft Week: Campus Operations and Transportation

On April 23-25, Pittsburgh will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city for the 2026 NFL draft. Since draft activities take place on the North Shore and downtown, we do not anticipate a significant impact on our Oakland campus operations. However, we recognize an event of this size is likely to create challenges for those commuting to campus from other parts of the region. 

Please note the following information and guidance on campus operations and transportation for Thursday and Friday, April 23-24:

• The university will operate as usual on Thursday and Friday.
• Classes will take place on campus as scheduled to ensure continuity of the academic experience during the last week of classes. Faculty and instructors who feel it is unfeasible to reach campus should speak to their dean or department head.
• Supervisors should offer reasonable flexibility (such as permitting schedule adjustments or remote work) for employees who anticipate transportation issues. In-person events or meetings may still occur. 
• Take Our Children to Work Day will proceed as planned on Thursday, April 23. Faculty and staff can visit the TOCTWD website for additional information.
• Traffic will be extremely heavy in and around the city, with . If you’re driving to campus, plan your route ahead of time and leave early.
• Most PRT buses will run less frequently Thursday and Friday, operating on Saturday schedules, and some routes will have no service at all. Check the for details and schedules.
• ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Shuttles will run on regular routes and schedules; however, traffic issues may cause delays or cancellations. Check the for real-time updates.
