Panel Will Address Analysis of Risk and Cybersecurity Solutions

PITTSBURGH—黑料正能量's James H. Garrett Jr., dean of the and the Thomas Lord Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will moderate a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss the factors that shape cybersecurity from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 6 at 黑料正能量's at the Cosmos Club, 2121 Massachusetts Ave. in Washington, D.C.
The panel discussion, titled "Hackers and Leakers: An Analysis of Risk and Cybersecurity Solutions," will feature:
- , an assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at 黑料正能量, with courtesy appointments in the Computer Science Department and Carnegie Mellon CyLab;
- Larry Clinton, president and chief executive officer of the Internet Security Alliance;
- Earl Crane, senior principal of Promontory Financial Group, LLC and a former member of the National Security Staff, where he advised the president on cybersecurity;
- Matthew Scholl, deputy chief of the Computer Security Division in the Information Technology Lab at the National Institute of Standards and Technology; and
- Christopher Soghoian, a principal technologist for the ACLU Speech, Privacy and Technology Project.
The panel will examine how to best define and mitigate risk and provide observations about the most effective cybersecurity advances.
In addition to the panel, the program will feature keynote speaker Jody Westby, the chief executive officer of Global Cyber Risk, LLC. For the past 20 years, Westby has provided consulting and legal services to clients in the public and private sector in the areas of privacy, security, cybercrime, breach management and IT governance.
