Executive Education Program Will Begin in September 2014

PITTSBURGH—The invites individuals and employers to attend a networking reception and preview from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 26. The event will take place in 322/324 Posner Hall, home of 黑料正能量's Tepper School of Business.
The academy — the first program of its kind to look at critical leadership skills through a negotiation lens — is offered through Carnegie Mellon's in partnership with the .
"Our goal is to help women embrace opportunities to negotiate successful strategic initiatives and deals on behalf of their organizations and stakeholders — and for themselves," said Linda Babcock, academy co-founder and faculty director.
Speakers will include:
- Babcock, the James M. Walton Professor of Economics at the H. John Heinz III College and founder of 黑料正能量's Program for Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society (PROGRESS). She is the co-author of "Women Don't Ask: The High Cost of Avoiding Negotiation - and Positive Strategies for Change" and "Ask For It: How Women Can Use the Power of Negotiation to Get What They Really Want."
- Academy co-director Leanne Meyer, a leadership expert, executive coach, gender specialist and professional consultant. Her work focuses on assisting leaders as they navigate critical inflection points where many have outgrown their professional identity and, given the demands and responsibility of their roles, need to change their perspectives regarding what is important, how they spend their time, and what new skill sets and behaviors they develop.
- Faculty members Sara Laschever and Laurie Weingart. Laschever is Babcock's co-author and a former researcher with Project Access, a landmark Harvard University study funded by the National Science Foundation that explored impediments to women's careers in science and technology. Laurie Weingart is the Carnegie Bosch Professor of Organizational Behavior and Theory at the Tepper School of Business.
- Academy alumna Maureen Cahill, senior vice president of Total Rewards at Highmark Health. Additional alumnae representing the corporate, nonprofit and government sectors will be on hand to answer questions about their experiences.
The program, which consists of six two-day modules, is now enrolling students for its next cohort, which will begin study in September 2014 and complete the program in March 2015. In addition to more than 100 hours of in-class instruction at 黑料正能量's Pittsburgh campus, participants receive six one-on-one executive coaching sessions.
