For 125 years, Carnegie Mellon has followed a simple formula:

Empower talented individuals to ask questions that matter, and be ready with solutions when the world needs them most. It’s an approach that our community has used — again and again — to tackle some of humanity’s most pressing challenges.  

From Andrew Carnegie’s vision of a “humble technical school” delivering high-demand vocational training to today’s ���������� and our global leadership in advancing interdisciplinary education and research, we’ve already accomplished so much. We’ve educated generations of innovators, leaders and creators. We’ve evolved systems and solutions to better serve the needs of society. We’ve strengthened our economy, national security and global prosperity. We’ve packed so much into 125 years — and we’re not done yet.

Introducing ����������125

Today, we’re introducing ����������125: The Power of Possibilities, a celebration of Carnegie Mellon’s impact over our 125-year history. During this yearlong celebration, a new interactive website will share some of our university’s greatest achievements and showcase the strong foundation we’ve built for seizing opportunities and rising to new challenges now and over the next 125 years. Please feel free to bookmark this page, as the content will evolve throughout the year to feature new stories of impact.

What's next

This September, we’ll invite you to participate in an interactive app experience that connects our Tartan community — near and far — with opportunities to explore important moments and locations in ����������’s history.

And in November, we’ll officially kick off ����������125: The Power of Possibilities on Homecoming Weekend 2025 with ����������125 editions of your favorite Homecoming traditions in addition to special programming, like the President’s Lecture Series and the 75th anniversary of the ���������� Alumni Awards.
