Automated External Defibrillator
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are devices designed to restore the heart’s normal rhythm in the event of cardiac arrest. AEDs can be found in cabinets within buildings throughout campus. The cabinets contain an AED, a CPR/AED rescue kit, a STOP THE BLEED kit and a two-dose kit of NARCAN. Training is not required to use an AED or NARCAN, however, EHS offers training courses for CPR/AED and STOP THE BLEED.
For more information on AED’s, training, STOP THE BLEED kits or NARCAN contact EHS via safety@andrew.cmu.edu.
