Bio
With a love for international education and cultural exchange, Karen Richters majored in global studies and French language & literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). After graduating, she taught English in France and Martinique for two years before returning to her alma mater as the marketing and outreach coordinator for the Programs Abroad Office. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she transitioned into a role in UTK's Teaching & Learning Innovation unit and began her graduate studies in journalism and electronic media.
In 2023, Ms. Richters joined LCAL as the associate director of communications, developing and leading marketing and communications strategies for the department's academic programs. She also manages LCAL’s e-newsletter, websites and social media channels while supporting event planning and outreach.
Outside of work, Ms. Richters enjoys exploring Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods and trails.
