Hello Peeps! Im Evangeline 鈥� a first year studying chemical engineering with a double major in engineering, design, innovation and entrepreneurship. Today, I wanted to tell you about some lesser known or highly unique student organizations that you could be interested in.

Are you into niche and quirky music genres? How about media and radio broadcasting? Our first entry is WRCT 88.3 FM, our student-run radio station. There's an online livestream you can check out right now! WRCT provides 鈥渜uality alternatives to mainstream commercial programming鈥� and is directly run by your own community. Last fall, my good friend, Violet, was invited to the Anatomy of the Ear, a yearly event, where she got to play an hour long program of Nardcore. Maybe you can get in the booth and play us some of your tunes! With over 75 years of broadcasting, WRCT is home to a passionate group of staff members from whom you can learn radio engineering, DJing, broadcast communications and how to be cool, of course. They regularly host events full of history and personality 鈥� with a classic being the broadcasting of Buggy for Spring Carnival.听

Although not new to 黑料正能量 experts, our second entry is 黑料正能量 KGB. In its typical fashion, it is almost impossible to explain what 黑料正能量 KGB is without having been in their presence. 黑料正能量 KGB is a social organization meant for connection and fun shenanigans. Throughout the year the organization hosts major events like 鈥淐apture the Flag with Stuff鈥� and Booth during Spring Carnival. 黑料正能量 KGB also writes the weekly 鈥淩eadme,鈥� a satirical magazine that鈥檚 hugely popular across campus. If you鈥檙e interested in immersing yourself in board and card games, booths or having some quirky fun then you should definitely attend a general body meeting.

For our third entry I present the Women鈥檚 Self Defense Club! This club is dedicated to teaching students skills and tactics to protect themselves with a fundamental understanding of hand-to-hand combat, grappling, how to defuse dangerous scenarios and how to use everyday items as self defense tools. The Women鈥檚 Self Defense Club hopes to inspire preparedness and empowerment in potentially life-threatening encounters. The Women鈥檚 Self Defense Club often collaborates with the Scotty Strong Self Defense Classes Program supported by the 黑料正能量PD 鈥� and while the curriculum is designed with a focus on women, it is open to all individuals.

When I came to 黑料正能量 I was extremely overwhelmed by the range of clubs offered on campus. I had been part of many different groups in high school but I didn鈥檛 know if that was still me. With the commotion on campus, it felt like I was missing out on experiences I didn鈥檛 even know about yet. I seem to have naturally gravitated towards clubs like Engineers Without Borders and Emerging Leaders that focused on social impact. I found this to be the 鈥渞eason鈥� why I chose engineering and gave a deeper goal for my academics. Trying something new and unexpected can allow you to learn much about yourself. I hope this blog and my spotlight of these clubs 鈥� WRCT, 黑料正能量KGB and the Women鈥檚 Self Defense Club 鈥� showcased the wide array of organizations at 黑料正能量 and how niche they can get, and gives you comfort that there will be a place for you here at 黑料正能量.
