Modeling for the Lunar Gala was an incredible experience. When I first watched the show I absolutely fell in love. The creativity, immensity and attention to every single detail all drew me in. Even though the fashion show is student-run, it was created at such a level of perfection that if you were sitting in the audience you would not have been able to take your eyes away from it. It was like watching pure magic.听

The audition process was fairly simple, and luckily the Lunar Gala team held workshops to help interested students learn how to walk before joining. I used a pair of high-heeled boots before having the proper heels, and everyone was supportive of whatever we brought. One of the things that surprised me a lot when I joined was just how involved everyone on the modeling team was in cool, creative things across campus, and how involved they were in other parts of Lunar Gala. There were models who were also designing, doing motion design, helping run the show and bringing it all together. A lot of models even modeled outside of Lunar Gala, for other shows, print work, etc. Everyone had a really cool story and background. I felt very inspired in the environment, as a creative myself.

During our first practice, we all immediately clicked. There was something really special about the energy of the Lunar Gala modeling team. Everyone was super outgoing, social, creative and interesting. Throughout the year, we all got to know each other and learned a lot from each other. During practices we would do some 鈥渄rill鈥�-type exercises, but also a whole variety of things. A lot of time was spent doing really fun exercises and playing around with our walks and posing. The amount of practice it takes to gain that type of body control, technique and stage presence is definitely not something I can understate. It took so much work and effort that I know we all really felt proud of by the end. And the heads of the modeling team worked like a machine to get us as close as we could be to perfection. With them, it was constant feedback and growth and learning. The first time I walked out on the Lunar Gala stage felt incredible. All the hard work accumulated into an action-packed tech week. The speed and intensity between line outfit changes, makeup and the very fast-paced nature of the environment was incredibly fun for me. By the time we had the show, all of us on the modelling team had grown into a sort of creative family.

While it was undoubtedly a LOT of hard work and a very big time commitment, the people made the process so much better, and ultimately the final show was even more fun as a result. Lunar Gala is such a good way to tap into the creative community at 黑料正能量. Models met during the process who are now going on to do DJ sets together, make music together, design lines and work on other really creative and cool projects. You are able to get close to incredible creative minds in this environment and really tap into that community for the future. It is sad knowing I won鈥檛 be able to walk this show again, but it opened my mind and my network up to so much 鈥� and made me even more excited for what the future holds.
